Structured Academic Controversy
In US1, one form of oral expression is being able to argue your assigned point based on the evidence given to you in the form of primary sources. After examining the historical view on Pocahontas's relationship with John Smith, and the Disney view, I was designated the defensive stance, and was made construct an argument proving that Pocahontas really did save Smith. After a quite heated discussion, both sides agreed on a few ideas, and disagreed on a few as well. In the end, though, both sides learned a thing or two about making a public declaration of one's opinion, and I received a 4/4 in both categories of the assignment.
