Personal Growth and reflection
Growth is an extremely important part of community. In order to advance a group of people along to the next big thing, growth must be eminent in every aspect of the situation.
Example one:
My first example is the very first in-depth feature I ever wrote in my freshman year in journalism. The story was about my friend Colby Wyatt and other freshman athletes who have made Varsity teams. While the story is far from perfect, it is one of my most prized stories, simply because I enjoyed writing it. Since I wrote this story, I have expanded my journalistic style and tightened my writing.

example two:
My second example is also from freshman year-- it is my very first structured academic controversy. Our job was to argue whether or not Pocahontas actually saved John Smith's life, and I remember being nervous and stuttering over my words. Now, however, I feel confident when taking a stance on something, even if my stance is something I do not agree with. I know I can support my arguments with evidence from documents, and in doing so, I can build a great case,

ExAMPLE THREE:
My final example is a video story I created during my sophomore year for US2 about Andrew Jackson. In order to make this video, I had to analyze many primary and secondary sources in order to determine my stance on nullification, and then I had to pull direct quotes from the documents and use them to support my claim, all in video format. Since I made this video, I have learned new skills with which to analyze historical data, and I have also furthered my skills in videography.
